Leading goalkickers table.

[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_AFL_season#Leading_goalkickers

Does Callum Brown still need to be included in the table at this point?

I know he was equal first in round one but in 2022,(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_AFL_season#Coleman_Medal), 2020 and 2019 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_AFL_season#Coleman_Medal) they do not have the leader on the first few rounds. Flipstatic Energy, several changes have been made to the formatting of this table (among others) to improve readability/accessibility, etc., and previous seasons will gradually be cleaned up, so please be patient; the changes were recently brought up here as well. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 13:15, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thank you. I just did not understand it properly. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 13:43, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Is this content notable enough?

[edit]

Hello this is a query whether these 2 contents are notable enough to be in the game notes in their specific rounds.

Back in Round 16 (I believe) Freo vs Sydney was the first fremantle game in 30+ years to not feature a single indigenous player in the squad. I know this belongs on the club page and I am considering getting it on there but am wondering if its notable enough. Link Here

Now in Fremantle's last round Caleb Serong equalled the AFL record for 70 consecutive matches of 20+ disposals. I have noticed other AFL records (including disposals and hitouts) have been put in game notes before and am wondering if this is allowed as well. If not for Round 20 would it be allowed for Round 21 if he manages to beat the record against Essendon? Link Here. I also remember seeing a commentary clip sometime where the commentators were discussing said record. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 01:28, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Personally I'd limit both to the club season page. Aspirex (talk) 01:34, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Even the AFL record? In my personal opinion AFL records should be on the page and team records probably on the team pages. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 02:46, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are many club records of league level notability, and many league records which are only of club notability. The question to ask is "would a non-Freo fan reasonably be interested in this fact". Given this is a moderately obscure record (i.e. meeting an arbitrary midrange disposal threshold), I don't think this really warrants comment on the league season page. Aspirex (talk) 03:20, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW agree that it fits on the club season page Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 03:28, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@4TheWynne Could you please give your input on this as well? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 00:32, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see how the record can't be mentioned in the game notes; it's different from the ones already in the article, as those were milestones (10,000 in both cases) as much as anything, but it's a decent streak and not exactly an obscure statistic, so I don't see why not. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 02:28, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is it better to do it if it does get broken? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 03:03, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AFL Season Count

[edit]

The AFL came into existence in 1990. Prior to that it was known as the VFL. As such this is the 35th season of the AFL, but it would be misleading to leave it at that. It is preferable to make reference to it being the 128th season as a continuation of the VFL. This is more accurate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.148.224.252 (talk) 07:31, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It was just a name change... it's still the same competition, and yes, we do mention that it's the 128th season, but we also recently decided at project level not to mention the name change in the lead, to be concise, and we don't need to manufacture any distinction between VFL and AFL. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 14:22, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Finals grid misleading.

[edit]

Sorry. But looking at the grid for the finals series it looks like the winner of Giants v Lions will play Sydney in the prelim (and Geelong the other victor). It is not clear-cut and user-friendly for casual fans to work with this grid right now. 121.200.7.81 (talk) 14:26, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Separate finals article, or all information here?

[edit]

All finals series from 1998 to 2023 have separate pages. However, no separate page has been made for this year's finals, with the redirect simply pointing to the Finals section of this article. Not even a draft exists.

Will a separate "2024 AFL finals series" article be created, or will we simply keep the redirect as is? (I'd rather not make a unilateral move to start an article, so here we are) Unfortified Castle (talk) 04:33, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortified Castle, see this discussion. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 05:03, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
