2023 Super Bowl plus additional Editions

@InvadingInvader: & @Losipov: should the 2023 Super Bowl be on here, just curious. also is there any additions that should be on 2023 in the United States. 4me689 (talk) 21:18, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

For the super bowl, absolutely. Only include what we can confirm 100% though.
Some other events we could include could be the expiration on the earliest Mickey Mouse copyrights, as well as various auto races (Austin F1 race in October (ref), the Indy and Daytona 500s), and the Women's World Cup (the US is notoriously good at Women's Soccer). InvadingInvader (talk) 21:22, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
Adding to what @InvadingInvader said, I think we should add events like that though only the necessary information (eg: the location of the game, the teams, who won, and the Super Bowl MVP). I'm on the fence about including the 2023 NBA and NHL All Star Games, as well as NCAA March Madness. You could also add various US gubernatorial races; I believe Kentucky, Louisiana and Mississippi have them, and they warrant enough notability to include in my opinion. Some international events, like the FIBA World Cup, can be included if the United States does particularly well in it. Losipov (talk) 03:33, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

Significance of certain events.

There are certain events recorded in this article that I'm not sure are significant enough to be included here. I am specifically referring to executive orders of governors Lee and Waltz on March 2 and 8,they seem like state, not national news.

I also question the significance of the events recorded on March 6 and 18,thought they are definitely more significant. Outlandish bills have been introduced before and Trump has said strange things in the past and I am not sure why these are any different.

I deleted the TEXIT one. It most likely won't pass, numerous attempts have failed in the past and it's actually illegal anyway per Texas v. White. TomCat4680 (talk) 11:58, 21 March 2023 (UTC)

Moving the Wisconsin Supreme Court to the "Elections" section

To me, at least, the Wisconsin Supreme Court election seems better suited to be placed with the congressional elections, just making a subsection for these kinds of races. Pinging @InvadingInvader and @TomCat4680, but if anyone else wants to chime in then go for it. Losipov (talk) 15:23, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

That'd be fine with me. TomCat4680 (talk) 18:41, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
I'd personally agree; I just wasn't BOLD enough to do it earlier. We also get a lot of edits from IPs, so you may want to ping them as well to the degree you see fit. InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 18:55, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

Jeremy Renner incident

I personally believe this should be included, the incident about him in January 1 is bigger than any celebrity news i know-it's about as far as Damar Hamlin's incident. MarioJump83 (talk) 11:39, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind it. I don't have strong feelings in favor of or in opposition to its inclusion, and I would encourage you to WP:Be bold about it. InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 18:24, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Why is there no mention of the debt ceiling crisis on the 2023 events?

Come on, it has and would have worldwide impacts. “Domestic” isn’t an excuse, basically most of the events are very domestic in their respective countries anyway. 2603:6011:9600:52C0:1890:E2C8:2C8:7FBF (talk) 16:44, 4 June 2023 (UTC)

Had the default occurred, yeah that definitely would warrant inclusion on that specific article (assuming there would be consensus to do so, which I think there would be). However, there was deal made that ultimately averted a default, so any and all events relating to it would most certainly be domestic. This is just my opinion, but because a default didn't happen, it's largely a domestic issue.
You could definitely ask on that article's talk page if it should be included, but I don't think there would be consensus because of that deal. It's worth a shot, though. Losipov (talk) 03:52, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

Discussions

  • Option 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10 – Option 1 is the disaster image that I think should be added, given the shear scale different between it and the wildfire disaster (which was option 2). Option 3 & 6 are no-brainers to add for historical & political significance. I choose option 4 for the science advancement of the year, since it was really the only science thing mentioned in the events list. Option 10 is a significant international incident that was headlined for the entire first part of the year. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 05:51, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
Too soon to determine. I don't think we're ready for collages yet. Plus, the discussion on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Years should determine what we do. InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 19:10, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
Why would WP Years determine what the collage should be for this article? A quick skim of the WikiProject talk page doesn’t indicate a discussion is ongoing (excluding my alert to the WP about this discussion) for the collage for this specific article. I see a discussion is ongoing related to removing it for 2023, but not about this article. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 19:35, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
  • Too soon while I definitely have my opinions as of now as to what to do, a discussion should not take place until 1 January 2024 at earliest, as more significant events can always crop up in November and December. --72.68.134.26 (talk) 20:19, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
2, 4, 9, 10 - I'm keeping my choice a bit low because something can always happen in the next month and a half. However, these at least should be in the collage, regardless of what happens (assuming it won't be something that completely overshadows what happened this year, hopefully that never happens) Stoplookin9 (talk) 02:28, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
  • Option 2, 3, 7, 10, 11. I very much doubt that will change. Viriditas (talk) 19:49, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
  • 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11. I hope the year collage for the United States can be expanded to 8-grid.
Nagae Iku (talk) 17:40, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
  • None - collages are visual clutter and have no encyclopedic value. Just place the individual images in the corresponding section with the event and date. Isaidnoway (talk) 🍁 00:07, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
  • None. Visual representation is still important, but my opinion is the same of Isaidnoway. Place them in the list of events instead. That way we can include more images as due weight would allow. InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 19:30, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
