Groth

[edit]

I have switched Groth's nationality to AUS, as indicated by the Wimbledon site.

To explain: In WTA events, Groth's nationality is given as SVK, as she doesn't have an Australian passport. The Majors, run by the ITF, have different rules and she is permitted to represent Australia, where she has lived since she was a teenager.

SMH article Groth, who holds Australian residency, expressed her frustration at the hold-up in determining her citizenship status when she represented Australia at the French Open in May. While the organisers of the French grand slam were happy for her to represent Australia in Paris, the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) and International Tennis Federation (ITF) insist she plays for Slovakia on the WTA Tour until she holds an Australian passport.
