The National Charter Party (Arabic: حزب الميثاق الوطني) is a Jordanian political party. It is as of 2024 the 2nd largest party in the House of Representatives.
Ideology
[edit]Economic
[edit]The National Charter Party is moderate. It advocates largely for a social market economy, with its platform's economic policies largely focused on investments in both the public and private sectors, alongside expanding trade with neighboring countries. Along with this, it advocates for combating corruption.[2]
Social
[edit]The National Charter Party advocates for expanding women's rights, alongside cooperation between Muslims and Christians.[2]
Foreign policy
[edit]The party advocates for Palestinian statehood, stating that "Jerusalem beats in our hearts, and we remain loyal in supporting Palestine.", along with "On Jerusalem and the occupied territories, Arab and Islamic responsibility, and the ethics towards this - emphasizing the historical privacy between Jordan and Palestine and their economic twinship". It is unclear whether the party supports a two-state solution or a Palestinian one-state solution.[2]
