Yong Mark Ndi (born 20 March 1992), who is known professionally as Makon, is a Cameroonian singer, songwriter and philanthropist. He gained prominence in 2015 after releasing his single "Halla Ya Matta". He released his debut EP "Life of a Black Boy" in 2024.

Early life and career

Makon hails from Fundong, precisely from the Boyo Division in the Northwest Region of Cameroon. He was born on March 20 1992 in Fundong. Makon attended CBC Mutengene where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate after completing primary school.[1] He went on to attend Progressive High College where he obtained his Ordinary Level and Advanced Level certificates after completing secondary education. Makon subsequently acquired a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Buea.

In 2015, Makon started his musical career in Buea during his university days. He released his debut single "Halla Ya Matter".[2][3] He later move to Douala where he created the Makon Care Foundation[4], a state recognized organization which provides a platform where mothers and children have access to funds, medical care and support. The singer is said to be following the foot steps of his mother's philanthropic strides.[5]

In 2024, Makon made his musical comeback by releasing his debut EP "Life of a Black Boy".[6] A 6 track project and a single titled "Pepper" to solidify his comeback into the music industry.[7] [8]
