Draft:Whiteleigh Meadows

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Whiteleigh Meadows.[1] is a Site of Special Scientific Interest near Brandis Corner in Devon, England. It was designated as a protected area in 1987 because of its plant diversity in unimproved grassland. Heath Spotted-orchid (Dactylorhiza maculata) has been seen at the site.

The protected area was the subject of a court case brought when Natural England discovered unauthorised grazing of livestock at the site[2].

Part of the land area designated as Whiteleigh Meadows Site of Special Scientific Interest is owned by the Forestry Commission. The Association of Commons Registration Authorities holds information about the registration of commons at Whiteleigh Meadows[3]
