Shadowhawk is a real-life replica of a western town from old Hollywood films. It was built in 1996 by former Hollywood film and television character actor William Drake in Smithfield, North Carolina. The buildings have detailed interior woodwork, and many are furnished with real antique furniture! The saloons have antique pianos and game tables! The jail has real iron bars!
Drake retired to North Carolina and died in 2017, being survived by his wife Kristen Drake, his stepson, and friend Tony Manning, who helps manage the town. Wild Bill, as he was known, spent several years building his replica western town on his property. Shadowhawk has a general store, two saloons, blacksmith, jail, kitchen, hotel, bank, post office, barber shop, billiard room, assayer, undertaker, and a church! It has been the location for several films.
There is no admission fee. Visitors are encouraged to leave appreciative donations in the contribution boxes for the constant maintenance to woodwork. Investors are welcome. The whole town can be rented for parties, videos, weddings, and movies!
