Nirmaan Organization is a non-governmental organization (NGO) headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. The organization operates in 23 states across India and has supporting chapters in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates (Add links for countries). Organization History
[edit]The organization was originally named as "My India' and was started by students from BITS Pilani University, Goa, on February 12, 2005. It provided educational support to the children of BITS university employees and later expanded its activities to address various social issues. It was renamed Nirmaan in 2007 and registered as a society.
Mission:
[edit]Nirmaan's mission is to work towards a poverty-free, knowledge-driven, and economically empowered nation by focusing on providing education and livelihood opportunities for underprivileged people.
Programs and Activities
[edit]EDUCATION:
[edit]The organization partners with government schools in several states across India to offer digital classrooms, mobile career counseling.[1], digital labs[2], and school transformation programs[3]. It also provides STEM labs, Career Guidance, Scholarship and Mentoring programs and Sports programs[4] to promote access to education for underprivileged children.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT:
[edit]Nirmaan supports marginalized communities through vocational training courses, and the 'Women in Technology’[5] initiatives for women, Youth Employment Programs, and specialized skilling initiatives for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and LGBTQIA+ individuals[6]. The organization also assists entrepreneurial ventures through initiatives such as SWASHA, Hope In a Cup[7], and Dantewada Organic Farming.
HEALTH :
[edit]Nirmaan conducts health awareness campaigns including multi speciality health camps, health clinic programs, mental health sessions, nutrition programs, and maternal and child health support to strengthen primary healthcare services[8][9]
ENVIRONMENT CONSERVATION:
[edit]Nirmaan's environmental initiatives include plantation drives, kitchen gardening programs, lake cleaning initiatives, waste management, and promoting sustainable agriculture practices.
RURAL DEVELOPMENT:
[edit]Nirmaan undertakes rural development programs through village adoption initiatives in tribal and underdeveloped areas, working to improve access to education, healthcare, clean water, sanitation, and infrastructure development. The organization also engages in disaster relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Impact :
[edit]Nirmaan has impacted over 3 million beneficiaries across 25 states in India, supported by more than 500 employees and 1,000 volunteers. Its programs primarily serve marginalized communities, including children, women, youth, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), LGBTQIA+ individuals, and farmers.
