From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nimrod Riccardo Sapir (born May 19, 1964) is an Italian Israeli industrial designer and entrepreneur best known for his work on the MyWay Quick1 electric scooter, which he developed and began selling through his company MyWay in 2010. He is also the founder of Inokim, a micromobility company that designs and manufactures electric motorized scooters.[1].

Early Life and Education

[edit]

Sapir was born in Tel Aviv, Israel to an Israeli father and an Italian mother. He grew up in Tel Aviv with his parents and four sisters. In 1987, he received a degree in industrial design from the Holon Institute of Technology.

Career

[edit]

Sapir filed a patent for a "Folding wheel mechanism for vehicle" in 2009[2], which formed the basis for the design of the MyWay Quick1 electric scooter. In 2010, he founded MyWay and began selling the Quick1. The scooter was well received for its compact size and portability, and Sapir quickly gained recognition for his work.

In 2013, MyWay was reincorporated in Ningbo, China, where a new factory was built to accommodate a manufacturing capacity of thousands of units per month. In addition to his work on the MyWay Quick1, Sapir has also received recognition for his other designs, including the Inokim OX electric scooter and the Inokim Quick4[3] electric scooter. He has received multiple awards for his work, including a Red Dot Design Award for the Inokim OX in 2016[4]

Sapir's contributions to the electric scooter industry have been widely recognized. The MyWay Quick1 was described as "the smallest fold-up electric scooter we've seen" by New Atlas in 2012[5]. The Inokim OX was described as a "sleek, rugged, and powerful" scooter by Digital Trends in 2019.
