Misato Yokoyama (Born December 3, 1973) is a Japanese classical pianist.
Career
[edit]Misato Yokoyama studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts and at the Royal Academy of Music in London under Maria Curcio and Christopher Elton, graduating with distinction and winning the Best Recital Award.
In 1995 she won second prize at the Isernia International Piano Competition in Italy. In 1997 she released her debut CD, which was featured in various music magazines. The same album won the HMV Japan Newcomer Award in 1998. She returned to Japan in 2000. The following year, she held her debut recital at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan. In 2008 she formed "The Grand Trio" with Takumi Komoriya (violinist, concertmaster of the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra) and Ryoichi Fujimori (principal cellist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra). They released their first album in 2009 and hold regular recitals.
Misato Yokoyama has performed worldwide, appearing as soloist with various symphony orchestras, including the Royal Academy of Music Orchestra, the Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra, and the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. She has recorded several chamber music and solo CDs.
