Sherrod Taylor is a former attorney from Columbus, Georgia, who specialized in the field of plaintiff's personal injury law, federal employers liability law, wrongful death, and international tort law. He is noted in the legal world for coining the term "Neurolaw" in 1991[1] and being one of the leaders of the style of practice throughout his career.

Early Life and Education

[edit]

J. Sherrod Taylor was born in Quitman, GA, on Nov. 24, 1947. Soon after his birth, his family moved to Moultrie, GA, where he would work in his father's pharmacy in his teenage years.

His father, Johnny Taylor, was a veteran of World War II and his mother, Estelle, worked for years at the local bank.

Taylor excelled at academics from a very young age and found a love of Numismatics, or the study and collection of coins. Taylor's first published article appeared in "Coin World" in 1968.[2]. He would be cited over 21 times in various numismatic-themed publications in his life.

After graduating from Colquitt County High School in 1965, Taylor attended the University of Georgia. He was the President of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and he earned a B.A. in History with the hope of being a teacher. With the Vietnam War escalating, Taylor enrolled in United States Air Force Officer Training School and quickly rose up the ranks to Captain. Taylor served overseas for one tour before being stationed in Germany for the remainder of his duty.

Upon returning home, Taylor continued his education by earning a Master's Degree in Latin American History from the University of New Mexico.

But Taylor found his true love studying the law. He enrolled in the University of Georgia School of Law and graduated with Juris Doctor degree in 1978.
