The Hillingdon Herald is a regional newspaper for the London Borough of Hillingdon. Published monthly, the paper is exclusively a produced in a printed format and features 24 pages of news, features, and sport.[1]
Set up in late 2021, paper is written primarily by students at Brunel University of London, with the university's lecturers and residents of Hillingdon occasionally contributing. It also carries columns from the Borough's three local Members of Parliament, including former Prime Minister Boris Johnson until he stepped down as MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip[2].
10,000 copies are distributed monthly[2], with pick-up points including numerous shopping centres and libraries across Hillingdon[3]. The newspaper is regulated by the Independent Press Standard Organisation (IPSO).
On 6 September 2024, it was announced that the paper was shortlisted for the 'Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community' category of the Times Higher Education Awards. The nomination was supported by Lord John Randall of Uxbridge, who also served as MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip before Boris Johnson. This was the second award it had been shortlisted for that year.[2]
