Hel:sløwed is a collaborative electronic music project formed by Dutch DJs and producers Misja Helsloot and Michael de Kooker in 2022. The duo debuted with a remake of the trance track 'In Silence',^[1] released under Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance Recordings. Since their formation, Hel:sløwed has released music on various labels, including Armind Recordings, Flashover Recordings, Spinnin' Records, and Enhanced Recordings.

Misja Helsloot

Misja Helsloot is a Dutch DJ, producer, and label owner known for his contributions to the trance music genre.^[2] He began his career in the late 1990s^[3] and gained wider recognition in 1998 when Tiësto selected him to mix^[4] the first In Trance We Trust compilation. Helsloot has performed at events across Europe, Australia, Asia, and the Middle East.^[5] In addition to his career as a DJ and producer, Helsloot has managed three record labels^[6] and organized events, including the Create party series.^[7] He has released two artist albums and several mix compilations over the course of his career.^[8]

Michael de Kooker

Michael de Kooker is a Dutch electronic music producer who began his career in 2007. His remix of 'Veracocha – Carte Blanche' reached the Dutch Top 40,^[9] and he subsequently released original tracks and remixes^[10] for artists including Armin van Buuren, Vincent de Moor, and Ruben de Ronde. In later years, de Kooker shifted his focus towards working behind the scenes for various artists.^[11] In 2022, he co-founded Hel:sløwed with Misja Helsloot.

Releases and Recognition

As Hel:sløwed, the duo has achieved significant success, accumulating over 18 million streams^[12] on Spotify. Their remakes and remixes of tracks such as Tiësto's 'Flight 643,' Grooveyard's 'Mary Go Wild,' and Jerome Isma-Ae's 'Hold That Sucker Down' have received support from prominent DJs.^[13] In 2023, their collaboration with singer-songwriter duo Amber Revival on the track 'If You Only Knew'^[14] was voted #5^[15] in the A State of Trance Tune of the Year 2023 poll, as determined by listeners of Armin van Buuren's radio show.

Live Performances

In the two years since their debut, Hel:sløwed has performed at major festivals and events, including UNTOLD,^[16] Luminosity Beach Festival,^[17] A State of Trance Rotterdam,^[18] and A State of Trance London.^[19] They have also performed at notable venues such as Maassilo and Melkweg.^[20]
