Draft:Gaia (Formerly Socially Recruited)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gaia (formerly known as Socially Recruited)[1] is an AI-powered recruitment platform based in the United Kingdom. The company specialises in using social media and search engine strategies to facilitate the recruitment process for both public and private sector organisations.

History

[edit]

Gaia (formerly Socially Recruited) was founded in 2017 as Socially Recruited by co-founders Ben Keighley[2] and Gareth Thyer-Jones.[3] Initially, the company focused on using social media as a channel for recruitment, a relatively underutilised approach at the time.[4] The founders identified an opportunity to improve traditional recruitment methods, which often provided a poor experience for candidates and limited access to talent for employers.

In 2024, Socially Recruited acquired Soccialy,[5] a company known for its recruitment solutions in the education sector. This acquisition led to the rebranding of the company as Gaia in July 2024. The rebranding marked a significant expansion of the company's services, combining expertise in both commercial and educational recruitment sectors.

The company was also recently named one of the UK's 350 fastest-growing companies in the 2024 Fast Growth Index,[7] ranking within the top 50. The company has also been shortlisted for the Scale-Up Entrepreneur of the Year award[8] at the upcoming Allica Bank Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Since its founding, Gaia has experienced significant growth. The platform facilitated over 4.3 million candidate applications in 2023,[9] demonstrating a 150% increase in activity compared to previous years.

Gaia, which started with three employees, expanded to a team of 50 by 2024. The company has been recognised as one of the best tech firms to work for[10] by 2024 Culture 100,[11] with an ongoing diversification of its service offerings.

Challenges and solutions

[edit]

Fragmentation: The platform aims to bridge gaps within the recruitment ecosystem by providing a more integrated approach compared to traditional job boards and agencies.

Outdated recruitment methods: Gaia focuses on modern, scalable solutions, incorporating digital and AI-driven strategies to improve recruitment processes beyond conventional approaches.

Enhanced candidate experience: The company prioritises improving the candidate journey, which includes reducing the complexities and inefficiencies often associated with job applications.
