Dr. Salvar Halldor Björnsson (born 1974) is a globally recognised authority in trichology and hair loss, known for his extensive contributions to the field over more than 20 years. He is the founder and CEO of Vinci Hair Clinic and serves as the President of the International Trichology Society.

Dr. Salvar Björnsson was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 1974. He had a strong interest in martial arts but developed a tumor in his lower body, forcing him to quit his career in martial arts.[1]

Dr. Björnsson entered the industry as a marketing executive at Nuhart where he gained the experience to start and establish Vinci Hair Clinic, which has become a prominent institution in hair restoration. Motivated by his personal experience with hair loss, he underwent a transformative hair transplant, which fueled his passion for helping others restore their hair. His journey led him to develop comprehensive treatment options for individuals facing hair loss. Björnsson's business experienced rapid growth in the mid-2010s, with revenues over £8 million and 40 clinics.[2] He has since expanded to 13 different countries.[3]

Contributions to Hair Restoration

Dr. Björnsson specialises in both Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) techniques. He has trained numerous professionals in these methods, emphasising the design of natural-looking hairlines and aesthetic outcomes. His dedication to education is evident through his involvement in seminars and training programs worldwide through the Vinci Academy.[4]

In 2011, Dr. Björnsson authored "Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow: Your Complete Guide to Hair Loss," a resource that has been translated and distributed widely, providing guidance to those facing hair loss challenges. A second edition was published in 2024.
