Dr. Debbie Heiser, aka “Debbie,” (born March 1, 1968 in DesMoines, Iowa) is an American Applied Developmental Psychologist, and Adjunct Professor, whose expertise on aging has gained national attention and press globally. Her work on work on dementia, depression and frailty has been widely recognized as important breakthroughs for treatment and patient outcomes.[1] She has been featured at TEDx,[2] Marshall Goldsmith 100 Coaches, Thinkers 50 Radar List, Psychology Today and is also an Adjunct Professor in the Psychology Department at SUNY Old Westbury. She is the author of The Mentorship Edge, was the President of the State Society on Aging of New York, and is a respected researcher on the topic of aging.[3] She earned her degrees at both SUNY Purchase (BA), and earned a PhD in Applied Developmental Psychology from Fordham University (PhD).[4]
Career
[edit]Heiser is the former Director of Applied Research at the Isabella Geriatric Center in New York City. Since, she has developed an initiative dedicated to empowering individuals in the later stages of life by mentoring the next generation.[5] She's a member of the elite Marshall Goldsmith 100 Coaches, a TEDx speaker known for her captivating talks on reinventing life after 40, and a contributor to Psychology Today. Recognized on the Thinkers50 Radar, Deborah is an award-winning researcher, author, and Adjunct Professor, sharing her wisdom and insights on aging and mentoring.[6]
