Since the end of 19th century, generations in the West have been given a name, based on common cultural experiences:
- Lost Generation (1883-1900)
- Greatest Generation (1901-1927)
- Silent generation (1928-1945)
- Baby boomers or "Boomers" (1946-1964)
- Generation X (1965-1980)
- Generation Y or "Millennials" (1981-1996)
- Generation Z or "Centennials" (1997-2012)
- Generation α or "Screenagers" (2013-2024)
Future generations

- β Generation (2024-2039)
- Generation Γ (2040-2055)
- Δ Generation (2056-2073)
- δ Generation (2074-2100)
