The Crimean-Ottoman campaign in Circassia or Ottoman-Circassian War This is a military conflict between the Ottoman Empire and Circassia, which took place from 1583 to 1589.[1]

History

[edit]

The War of 1583

In 1583, the Ottoman army under the command of Osman Pasha, moving from Transcaucasia to the Crimea, suffered significant losses from attacks by Kabardian detachments led by Mamstryk Temryukovich.[2]

Embassy of the Princes

In 1588, Mamstyk and Prince Kudenet Kambulatievich arrived in Moscow with a request for military assistance against the Ottomans and Crimean Tatars.[3]

Military assistance

In 1589, a detachment of Streltsy was sent, which, together with the Kabardians, defeated the principality of Sholokha Tapsarokovich, a supporter of the Crimean-Turkish orientation.[4]
