[edit]

Billboard magazine described it as a song with a "sullen lyric and gently chugging string-laden beat to match the many sulky moods of evolving adolescents".[2] The Day newspaper called the song an "industrial-strength Big Rock ballad".[4] Writing for The Boston Globe Carlo Wolff said, "Crawl" is the kind of naturalist epic Paul McCartney would be writing if he had any freshness left".[5]
