Anthony Abbing (11 May, 1870- 15 April, 1912) was a American blacksmith who spent most of his life in South Africa, on 15th of April 1912 he bought a 3rd class ticket and boarded the Titanic which sank and Anthony was killed and his body was never found.[1]

Early Life

Anthony was born on 11 May, 1870 to German immigrants Gerhard Abbing (1838-1882) and Gertrud Eising (1844-1917) and was the eldest of 7 children.[1] Gerhard died when Anthony was only 12-years-old and the family moved to St. Bernard shortly after, some time between their move to St. Bernard and 1908 Anthony became a blacksmith by trade.[2]

South Africa

In 1908 at the age of 38 Anthony accepted a work contract from South Africa and traveled to Johannesburg the following year, where he stay for the next 10 years.[3]

Titanic

After his ten years in South Africa, Anthony purchased a 3rd class ticket aboard the RMS Titanic, holding the ticket number "C.A. 5547." It is current unknown how exactly Anthony Abbing died, all that is known is that he boarded the Titanic and died (presumably from drowning) and his body was never identified.[1]
