The American Military Museum (also known as Tank Land) is a collection of military vehicles and equipment in South El Monte, California. With over 170 items on exhibit, it is the largest collection of inter-service military equipment in the western United States.[1] The museum is a non-profit organization.

History

[edit]

Established in 1962 by Donald Michelson, the museum aims to preserve the nation's military history and honor veterans and active military personnel. Initially housed at the Exposition Park Armory, it moved to the Reserve Center in Bell, CA, and later to its current 7.5-acre site in the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in 1978.[2]

Film

[edit]

The American Military History Museum has worked with major motion picture studios since the 1960s. It offers 7 acres of props, vehicles, and equipment for rent, used in movies, TV shows, and other productions.[3]
