Ali Khodami (born April 16, 1990), better known by his stage name Sorna, is an Iranian rapper.[2][3][4] In his music, Sorna explores social and political issues, with a particular focus on the role of women in society.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
Activity
[edit]Sorna addresses political themes in various ways through his music, but his initial silence during the start of the Woman, Life, Freedom Movement sparked controversy.[14] However, he later voiced his support for the movement on social media.[15][7] Ali Sorna is known as the "Lonely Man" because he performs most of his works solo[16] and releases them as full albums. Notable examples include Negar and Goosfand.[10][16] Like many other underground artists in Iran, Sorna works independently of the government, facing numerous challenges in releasing his works.[17] In response to the 14th presidential election, Sorna declared the election illegitimate, writing the following on his Twitter account:[18]
I say "no" to this fraudulent, decayed election, just as I say "no" to all other forms of oppression.
