This is a proposal for a new selection of featured content - featured redirects. As of April 2009, there are over 3.4 million redirects in article space, an average of approximately 1.2 redirects per article.[1] As yet, the method of nominating and determining featured redirects has not been decided. However, it is expected that featured redirects should meet the following conditions:

  • Stability - the redirect should not be subject to on-going edit wars.
  • Correctly formatted - using #anchor notation where applicable.
  • Desirable - i.e. not meeting any of the criteria in undesirable redirects.
  • Correctly categorised where applicable - using one or more established templates from Category:Redirect templates, all within the rcat shell.
  • Neutral - ideally redirects to alternative titles should meet the policy laid down in Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Where a redirect is from a controversial alternative title, the target article should provided citable evidence that the title is in general use.

Soft redirects are not eligible for featured redirect status.
