History of terrorism

[edit]

First i'd like to commend you on your recent efforts. However i feel the reorganisation was wrong for the History article and that a chronology is better, second I'm not use what all the groups add contributed to the development of terrorism, third most of your additions have no sources. but again the effort you've put in is outstanding. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.25.180.193 (talk) 01:30, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of History of terrorist groups

[edit]

I have nominated History of terrorist groups, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/History of terrorist groups. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

[edit]

Thanks for the expansion of those articles you've been working on. Please include inline citations, however, not just a list of references at the end. Ironholds (talk) 13:03, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Forget what the guy above me is saying! Your article citations are awesome! I was just looking at your work on Political issues in Kuwait and it is fantastic! I really appreciate it, because I would not have access to this kind of information from any other source. You did an excellent job of compiling it on Wikipedia! Wow! Leftist vs Communist

[edit]

Hello- You are technically right. However, many of these "Leftist" terrorists aren't actually committing crimes in the name of their "leftism".(As opposed to the KKK and such organizations that commit crimes in the name of religions like Christianity, or the IRA which commits crimes in the name of "Irish Freedom".) Thus, should they be called Leftist terrorists? Wouldn't this be like calling them "Terrorists with beards", or "Terrorists who use Windows Vista"? Leftism might be a shared trait, but most of the time it isn't causing them to commit the act of terrorism. /I personally think the article's fine, just asking ;).

recent edits HoT

[edit]

Yet you still removed large swayths of previous sourced sections, I happy for you to add stuff just don't delete more important sections like Cold war proxies, WW2, Nationalism etc —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.25.180.58 (talk) 16:41, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shall we try to discuss rather than engaging in a pointless edit war? I don't feel you should removed any sourced sections without discussion, particular as you seem to be converting into a history of groups. 9/11 without doubt deserves it own section given its impact the Lockbie bombing munich hostage taking 19th century nationalists, like the fenians irish brotherhood etc the assassination of Archduke Ferdinard

I was never sure about the suffragettes, not my area of expertise, but it did have 2 sources.

Also i feel several or your additions could be rolled it more general sections Left wing or communist terrorists, Jewish nationalist/zionists, Palestinian nationalist etc — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.25.180.58 (talkcontribs)

Sounds good. Just please don't do another automatic rollback undo!
  • 9/11-->fair enough, I'll add it back in
  • Lockerbie-->ditto
  • Munich-->I think munich would be better included under the PLO group that carried it out.
  • Irish Brotherhood-->I think this would be better discussed under IRA, b/c I don't believe the IRB itself did much terrorism
  • Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand-->I'll add it back in.
  • Suffragettes->I'll add it back in

Lehi and Irgun are very different, so I'd prefer not to merge those. And some of the left wing groups are VERY different, so I don't want to merge them. I'll put in the stuff I said I would in the list above--does that work for you?Mcenroeucsb (talk) 17:13, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The stuff about Ireland etc shows Irish nationalism as one of the major precursors of modern terrorism. My reasoning behind Munich is that a reader coming to the page might know about that but not know the name of the group behind so it be easier for them to navigated as the incident is far more famous than the group.

as for the Lehi and Irgun fair enough its not a huge area of expertise on my part, but i also don't think this is the article to discuss minor dogmatic difference between groups. so perhaps a broad overtopic like Jewish nationalism and the foundation of Israel then smaller sub entries if on individual groups, similarly for the left wing groups as most had an anti capitalist agenda so thats a common thread between them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.25.182.0 (talk) 17:23, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

could you upload this http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/39533000/jpg/_39533335_subway_203ap.jpg for the aum section its shows the aftermath of the attack and should qualify under fair usage.

I would, but I'm not sure how the licensing and all that works for press photos. I think a better bet in this case might be to just grab a photo that's already set up at the page about the attack. Mcenroeucsb (talk) 06:27, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Foreign workers in Kuwait

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Foreign workers in Kuwait requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Saleh Al-Mulla.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Ricky81682 (talk) 10:26, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Kuwait National Assembly No-Confidence Votes. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kuwait National Assembly No-Confidence Votes. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:12, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mohammed Al-Sager

[edit]

A quick question for you about Mohammed Al-Sager, which you seem to be the primary author of. Muhammad Al-Saqr received a merge tag today suggesting a merge with Mohammed Al-Sager, also a Kuwaiti MP. However, Al-Sager's article identifies him as a banker, and Al-Saqr's as a journalist; are these the same person? I can't find any sources that clearly connect the two, but I can't find anything to prove them separate, either. (All the links are dead at Al-Sager, which doesn't help, either.) I assume they're the same, but don't want to merge until I'm sure. As the original creator, can you shed any light? Thanks for your help!Khazar (talk) 14:35, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Juan Lozano Ramírez has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one.
