You have tagged the above image, PD-self while infact it was a copy from this URL, [1]. I have tagged it copyvio. Please understand that the PD-self needs to be used only if the photo was taken by you. Copyright violations are taken very seriously on Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia:Image use policy before uploading images. Let me know if you have any questions. - Ganeshk (talk) 21:08, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Important

[edit]

One person using two accounts is an offence in Wikipedia, exceptions notwithstanding. It is known as Sock puppetry. Users doing that may also be banned.

Happy that you have seen my appreciation at last. Unfortunately, we sparred over some edits. Lets us cooperate better with each other. Thanking You, AltruismTo talk 06:34, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good

[edit]

Happy that you have stuck to one account. I advised in your best interest. I didn't want someone whose contributions, I appreciate to be blocked/banned by others. "Local cuisine" is fine by me. You can also copy your content (talk page & others) from Gpics and copy it into Gnt, if you want. You can also post a message on Gpics that you have permanently shifted to Gnt only. I can help you transfer content, redirects etc. if you want--AltruismTo talk 05:42, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you've not seen Wikipedia:Citation_templates, plz. do have a look. These templates aren't mandatory as well, they only structure the references, well. For web citations, which we mostly use, URL and Title are mandatory. The rest like publisher, work, accessdate etc. are optional. --AltruismT a l k - Contribs. 07:23, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, I haven't seen any references on this matter. 46.6 C is just not the maximum temperature of Guntur. I was myself present on several days when the temperature crossed 48C, officially. --AltruismT a l k - Contribs. 04:47, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

Vandals are destroying articles related to Andhra Pradesh, Telugu language, Telugu script, Bhattiprolu and many other articles related to Telugu history. These people, about eight, have ganged up and are helping each other to prevent unbiased contributions. The history of South India and even that of the whole of India is being painted as that belonged to a linguistic group. History is being re-written on the basis of a couple of books written by parochial and localized historians and a couple of websites devoted to regional agenda and chauvanistic tendencies. A perusal of their contributions and citations will make my point obvious. I appeal to you to regularly visit Telugu and Andhra-relaated articles and prevent vandalism by these mischief makers.Kumarrao 07:15, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Gntsrst.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:57, 2 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Maxim(talk) 13:57, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Guntur-sitanagaram-1.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 01:38, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello `Abdaal`

The articles in wikipedia including Guntur article were not written in one day, they have been developed and coming for few years and by many individuals. And you suddenly decide to delete most of the relevant info. and categories with your whims is preposterous. Just now you have undone a reasonable and logical changes in 'Enternainment and Events' category (which should not have any private agency info. or names), what kind of constructive, sane contributions are you giving to Guntur article or other wikipedia articles. Atleast in Guntur article, what you have done is nothing but eliminating lot of important info., categories and pictures (placed properly per each category) and claiming that the artcile was already in sham. Hope you understand the concerns, Gnt (talk) 04:46, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Gntbst.jpg, which you've sourced to http://apsrtc.gov.in.

If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. About guntur page

[edit]

Hi, thanks. I do agree with your opinion on the guntur montage pic. Also, about tourism my opinion is though the city is expanded but distant places like mangalagiri and some places about 25 miles in distance may not be in city limit. As they have been in separate pages also on the district page, my request is to add parks, archaeological museums which are present in the city and add surrounding places which are in close proximity about 10 miles. If you can improve New Guntur railway station it would be good for the article, as you may know more about the area.--Vin09 (talk) 09:03, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. License tagging for File:Guntur-montage.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Guntur-montage.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:05, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Source

[edit]

@Gnt:The image of Guntur montage was derived from different sources and hence I request you to write those authors names in the Source section.--Vin09(talk) 08:36, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Good work

[edit]

Nice work on the rename of Vijayawada Airport. I request you to replace certain images in Guntur like, one town center with Jinnah Tower. Also a lake picture has no name or may not be major lake, replace it with ISKCON temple or Sringeri Math or any other major landmark. Also keep mostly 6-8 images when writing clockwise. For any help, check Hyderabad and Vijayawada pages. Its up to you to perform this task. Cheers! --Vin09(talk) 05:24, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@User talk:Vin09: Thanks for the appreciation. I have updated the description of montage to reflect the pond/park. Regarding the airport, I understand it is not located in the city and you may know it is not even located in Vijayawada. But the airport is serving and going to serve entire capital region including Guntur, vja and amaravathi. So mentioning of the airport is very important in the guntur article. I have put the content back in the article. Please update the content if needed instead of completely eliminating it. Appreciate your help. Gnt (talk) 18:51, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Kept the section, but removed redundant info of destinations. They were already mentioned in concerned article and also some WP:OR too. Montage needs some updation, keep 6 or 8 images for a clockwise description, i.e., 3 on top, a middle one/two left and right (instead of three in the middle), and three at the bottom. A middle image can be a panorama or any two landmarks. Also, there is a good pic of Jinnah Tower, an iconic one which can also be replaced with any of the present one. Please do not leave gaps in between images, either draw a border black line or fix them closely in paint. Cheers!--Vin09(talk) 06:04, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Currently Healthcare in Guntur is not linked to anything and the topic will get much more visibility if it's included in the Guntur article. So, I'm going to move the section to that article.

Please note that I also made edits to put the content in prose, per guidelines.–CaroleHenson (talk) 18:51, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Montage

[edit]

Please add lesser images with four, five or six and by covering very important part of the city. Please check WP:MONTAGE and a recent discussion at Talk:Eluru#Infobox image. Also, please see feature article like Hyderabad and good article Ahmedabad. Use closely related images that depicts the core city. I've just reverted to have a thorough discussion on what pictures needs to be added. Cheers!--Vin09(talk) 02:17, 27 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vin09(talk) Thanks for the feedback. I will prepare another image with fewer images. Regarding the Viswamandir, it is located in Chowdavaram and it is part of Guntur, is n't it? Please clarify Gnt (talk) 15:36, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It shows beyond chowdawaram in google. Anyhow core city would be much appreciated. Jinnah Tower image is one of the structure important to be included, which was missed. User:IM3847 has added a montage temporarily. Can check it and try those kind of pics. A road junction must include very important part of city. Also avoid road and railway stations as they are already in the page. Thanks for the reply. Cheers!--Vin09(talk) 16:56, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Vin09(talk). I noticed you mentioned the montage has repetitive picture of Guntur medical college. But it is not true, because this image is not in the Guntur main article. Now you reverted it with another montage which actually has the repetitive image of Museum. I will put the montage back in the article and I will continue the work on montage with another completely different Medical college picture. Now regarding Viswamandir, it is right around Chowdavaram. It has good significance to be shown. Please let me know if I can add that image back in the montage. Your help is always appreciated. Gnt (talk) 15:06, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've mentioned some inputs in the above section like Jinnah tower centre.--Vin09(talk) 15:12, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Also please note that my intention was to have a better and more iconic pictures such as GA and FA articles like Ahmedabad, Hyderabad. They have only 5-6 images and reflecting more core part of the city. I've replaced your image per your input. But I hope you can provide more better montage. Cheers!--Vin09(talk) 15:21, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks User:Vin09 for your help. Okay, sure I will go through the various pics I have and will try to make another Montage. Your contribution is greatly appreciated. Gnt (talk) 14:04, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:16, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Guntur-city-map1.PNG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Guntur-city-map1.PNG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:00, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Guntur-city-map1.PNG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Guntur-city-map1.PNG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Orphaned non-free image File:Guntur-city-map1.PNG

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Guntur-city-map1.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:08, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please attribute or claim media you uploaded or restored: File:Guntur-bridge-underpass2017.jpg

[edit]

You uploaded or restored , File:Guntur-bridge-underpass2017.jpg, but for various reasons did not add an {{information}} block, or indicate your (user) name on the file description page. Media uploaded to Wikipedia needs information on the SPECIFIC authorship and source of files, to ensure that it complies with copyright laws in various jurisdictions.

If it's entirely your own work:
please include {{own}} in the relevant source field, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, ensuring that your user name (or name you want used for attribution) is clear in the author field, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant (if such a license is not already used). You should also add an |author= parameter to the license tag, to assist reviews and image patrollers. You can also add |claimed=yes and an |author=to the {{media by uploader}} or {{presumed_self}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

If it's not entirely your own work, or the media is based on the work of others:
Please update the source and authorship fields, so that they accurately reflect the source and authors of the original work(s), as well as the derivative you created. You should also not use a "self" license unless the work is entirely you own. Media that is incorrectly claimed as self or {{own}}, will eventually be listed at Files for Discussion or deleted, unless it's full status is entirely clear to other contributors, reviewers and image patrollers. You should also read Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission which details how to confirm any permissions you obtained for works by others that are still in copyright.

Whilst this notification, relates to a single media upload, it would also be appreciated if you could ensure that appropriate attribution exists for other media you uploaded, You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

It's okay to remove or strike messages like this once the concerns have been addressed. :).

Notice

The article List of tourist attractions in Guntur district has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Policies violated by this page:

WP:NLIST Not all of the entries discussed as a set by independent reliable sources.

WP:NOTDIRECTORY "Simple listings without contextual information showing encyclopedic merit."

WP:NOTGUIDE Wikipedia is not a travel guide. We have Wikitravel for that, and many of these pages could be recreated (or already are) there.

The core content policies are: 1) neutral point of view, 2) no original research and 3) verifiability. This page violages policies 2 and 3.

WP:VERIFY What are the criteria to meet to be in the list? This page has vague or no criteria. By definition, then, there is no way to verify the inclusion or exclusion of any particular site in the list.

WP:NOR Original research "includes any analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to reach or imply a conclusion not stated by the sources. To demonstrate that you are not adding original research, you must be able to cite reliable, published sources that are directly related to the topic of the article, and directly support the material being presented." Who says that each of the items in the list are tourist attractions? Given the lack of inclusion criteria, that's understandable, as there is no need to justify being in a list that doesn't have standards for inclusion. However, that also points to original research as being the source for inclusion.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:23, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Guntur-city-map.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.google.com/maps/place/Guntur,+Andhra+Pradesh/@16.3235591,80.3644781,12z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x3a4a755cb1787785:0x9f7999dd90f1e694!8m2!3d16.3066525!4d80.4365402!16zL20vMDlneXF0. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
