copypasta

[edit]

"Mater values each and every dent he's earned on his escapades with Lightning over the years, and anxiously awaits further fun with his friend..." is a copyvio of disney.go.com/cars/mater.html as it's merely the blatant Disney promotional text for the sequel cut-and-pasted verbatim. This sort of promo copy needs to be removed as this is supposed to be an encyclopaedia article, not an ad for Disney or for the Mattel diecast toy line. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 14:22, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Vehicle manufacturer

[edit]

I've reverted this again. Making a claim that the truck is a 1957 Dodge, then citing that claim to a Ron Warnick piece which describes a 1951 International boom truck is dishonest. The cited source must match the text which claims the source as support. Warnick is most likely getting his info from Michael Wallis aka Sheriff (Cars), a U.S. Route 66 historian who lead the Pixar group on a pair of research tours in 2001 while the film was in its initial drawing board phase. Wallis describes the late Joe Ranft spotting the old truck in Galena, Kansas in the introduction to one of his books, which is cited here. The truck was tracked down and put back on U.S. Route 66 in Kansas in 2007 at his request. K7L (talk) 14:45, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

In cars2 it was revel his name was Sir Matter — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.98.167.114 (talk) 13:51, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That wasn't a "reveal". The character was given the title "Sir" in the second film, much like Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom is free to knight her minstrals Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John if she, in all of her Britannic majesty, should choose to do so. Breakout role???

[edit]

How does a cartoon character have a "breakout role?" This is a term reserved for actors. Maybe for the actor who also portrays the fictional "Larry the Cable Guy" character, this would be a breakout role...Freakdog (talk) 03:49, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"56" Chevy Truck has '57 Grille and Hood.

[edit]

The Truck pictured in the article as a 1956 Chevy Truck (and a plate mounted on it saying '56) has a 1957 Grille & Hood. The '56 Grille was simpple eggcrate. The '56 Hood did not have the stiffening ribs yet. 148.170.213.53 (talk) 20:39, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
