The reason this is U.S.-centric

[edit]

The reason this is U.S.-centric is that these sections were originally part of Labor unions in the United States. -- Jmabel | Talk 04:36, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I agree this needs to be more global. Can't promise I'll take it on, but I'll see what I can do. -- Scartol 02:53, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad others are recognising that this article is hardly a review of international labor unions. Not much seems to have happened in the past six years, but identification of a problem is the first step in fixing it. 218.185.60.3 (talk) 03:46, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I added the section about Costa Rican unions. Hope that helps a little. Mvblair (talk) 14:31, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

POV?

[edit]

This article seems to suggest that countries are doing better if they have a higher % unionised Larklight (talk) 20:06, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You had best explain why you believe this because I read the article and I didn't see that alleged bias. 218.185.60.3 (talk) 03:46, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Some sources

[edit]

Here are 2 online academic articles with international comparisons of types of movements and perhaps the most standard book on unionization levels (not online, but much available through Google books): http://www.nd.edu/~kellogg/publications/workingpapers/WPS/167.pdf http://www.mpifg.de/people/ws/downloads/Trade_unions.pdf http://books.google.com/books?id=0mB3ynG6B1UC&pg=PA3&dq=western+between+state+market#v=onepage&q=western%20between%20state%20market&f=false whoever takes over this task may not need to go through the whole articles, but only refer to the typologies in the abstract and first lines of the headings of the first article, page 343 in the second article, and the tables with the most important data on unionization in the book.

I would also commend this OECD webpage for a wider statistical review of union membership: http://stats.oecd.org/Index.aspx?QueryId=20167 218.185.60.3 (talk) 03:46, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
