Stand-alone game?

[edit]

I have not seen an iota of evidence that suggests that this will be a stand-alone game, rather than a map for StarCraft II, besides a quarterly report that mentioned its release, though not giving it the emphasis as a stand-alone product. I mean, Blizzard doesn't even have it listed on their website as a stand-alone game and its development team is synonymous with their StarCraft II roster. Is there anything to confirm or deny the singularity of this project, or are we just making assumptions by calling it a full video game? DarthBotto talkcont 20:52, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't as clear as it could be, since the game started out as just a StarCraft II map and evolved from there, and it is still in the early development stages. Blizzard All-Stars is currently being developed by a small prototype team within the larger StarCraft II project, as detailed by the StarCraft II Game Director Dustin Browder. In an interview done in January 2013, he talked about Blizzard All-Stars and referred to it multiple times as a "game", not a "map". Merxistan (talk) 01:57, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In case anyone was under the impression that I seem ignorant with this proposal, just know that this title called "Blizzard DOTA" at this time, was actually simply a StarCraft II mod, so my question had merit at the time. DARTHBOTTO talkcont 23:13, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Heroes of the Storm (video game)Heroes of the Storm – Largely notable upcoming game I think should be put to the regular page name. The previous game in it's place was rather un-notable and had only one major edit to it over the course of the article's life. Zero Serenity (talk) 20:23, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Marketing strategy

[edit]

The expression "...a marketing strategy employed to make it stand out from competitors" needs a reliable, secondary source, and needs to be attributable to a source as subjective opinion. WP:V, WP:OR, WP:NPOV and so forth. bridies (talk) 14:19, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Roster

[edit]

Would a roster be helpful here? I think without it people stumbling by this article with no knowledge of Heroes of the Storm (HotS) may have trouble understanding it's significance. I'm thinking of a table that lists the characters, with options to tag what franchise they're from originally, as well as the date they were first playable in HotS. I'm happy enough to do it, just want a second opinion from a more seasoned editor. PASTYL-FLO (talk) 08:07, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@PASTYL-FLO: WP:VGSCOPE says not to add such lists because the generalist reader won't understand, actually. A sentence or two (as is probably in the article now--didn't check) that says "the heroes come (predominantly) from the X, Y, and Z series, all Blizzard franchises" or similar, would be sufficient. --Izno (talk) 14:06, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Izno: Ah I see. I had the idea because I've seen similar things, such as the List_of_Mortal_Kombat_characters. But I guess that is a page specifically for that detail. Would a page like that be good for Heroes_of_the_Storm? PASTYL-FLO (talk) 14:14, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Usually when you have a dedicated list like that, the characters on the list are recurring elements in usually a series of games and their content is usually WP:SPLIT out from the series article. Some of them have major reception and character design information as well, which tells us that the broader concept of "MK characters" is WP:N, so that helps assure us that such a list is a good list to have. We don't have the same thing here, where all the characters come from different series. --Izno (talk) 14:18, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh okay. Thanks for clearing that up. PASTYL-FLO (talk) 14:26, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

May 2017 Rewrite

[edit]

Hey all!

I'm working on a pretty big overhaul of a lot of the sections here. As the game has grown quite a bit within the past few years and a lot as changed, there's definitely room for improvement to make this article a little bit more readable. I'm not planning on changing the meat of what's currently written; rather, just the presentation of it.

As always, please feel free to make changes to anything or revert as necessary. I'll be sticking around the talk page though, so I hope we can discuss any disagreements we might have.

Thank you! RedLinkJ (talk) 21:49, 18 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to work on the reception section next, especially with the release of 2.0. Here's a collection of links I've found that can be referenced, if anyone wants to join me:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/04/19/why-heroes-of-the-storm-20-is-bigger-bolder-and-better - IGN - seems to be a pretty positive review all around.
http://progamerreview.com/5-reasons-to-try-heroes-of-the-storm-2-0/ - not a review necessarily, and I'm wondering if the site is notable enough, but it covers why they think the game is worth playing. RedLinkJ (talk) 13:29, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There's still remnant vandalism from 2015...

[edit]

[1] If someone has time to comb through it, that would be great... (including urls in references, so I wonder how much info was later removed as a result of the vandalism). --Cold Season (talk) 23:02, 14 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

September 2019 Reassessment

[edit]

Hi, I have done a massive overhaul of the article this month, but I kept everything of value in it. My focus was on introducing terms one by one, so even people who have never played the game before can have a fluent reading. Each element of the game in this article is organized in such a way that its explanation is located before any other more complex subject, to avoid any confusion and jumping through text to find answers. Also, I have updated organization of the article, improved description in lead section to be more clear and concise, added new sections and expanded existing with fundamental information, added missing sources, improved formation, found optimal definitions of terms, corrected and updated outdated information, and I did a spell check. I also tried to improve the writing style of the article.

Any further suggestions are welcome. EchoBlu (talk) 08:54, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@EchoBlu: It would probably be a good idea to include information about HeroesHearth's Community Clash League (CCL), the ongoing professional tournament series currently in its third season. I know that there are also other tournaments in other regions, but I am less familiar with them. MochrieTV (talk) 00:44, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
