[edit]

The Russian version of this article sports the covers of his two books. One is improbably described as copyleft, the other improbably described as being in the public domain. I don't think that either is at Commons. Unable to read Russian, let alone to get into a discussion in Russian, I hesitate to add them to this article. -- Hoary (talk) 00:44, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See 'Structure of the LC Control Number', at [1]. Contrary to my statement at User talk:DGG#Authority Control, it does appear that 'LCCN' is the right name for whatever this thing is. It is called a Control Number, and in a sense it is the number of a 'card', not necessarily a book. The above LC document makes clear that authority records have LC Control Numbers.

Now Library of Congress doesn't give permalinks to authority records, but OCLC does, and the content is the same as the one produced by Lib of Congress.

So my proposal is that we put back the 'LCCN' field that a certain editor just removed, and to the right of it we put the OCLC link which is pointing to the right authority record: http://errol.oclc.org/laf/no2010037235.html. This will help us to keep this page at the cutting edge of bibliographic science.

Any comments? Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 18:38, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
