History

[edit]

Slack City was conceived in 2019 as a free-form community radio project with studios based in public spaces in Brighton. Prior to that, the station was branded as totallyradio and is the UK's longest-running internet radio station, launched in July 2000, It offered a global platform for non-mainstream and predominantly independent music. This was a sister station to the former Independent Local Radio broadcaster, Juice 107.2 which was based in Brighton and run by local talent headed by Daniel Nathan. On Friday 01 January 2021, totallyradio was rebranded as Slack City Radio and began broadcasting online and on DAB on the trial multiplex in Brighton. It began broadcasting from it's studios at 12am in a local coffee shop. Slack City's format is free-form radio and does not have strict programming for genres.
