The isometric Battlescape view is seen at the ground level view (note the stairs leading to the first floor of the shop building). Part of the map that were not yet explored are still shown as black space on the screen.

The player is currently controlling Jack Dodge, a Rookie rank soldier who is wearing a Personal Armor and carrying a Plasma Rifle (with 13 shots left in the magazine) in one hand and an Alien Grenade in his other hand. Several more soldiers and civilians are also seen, as well as dead or unconscious aliens. Some of walls were partially knocked down during firefights, and a building next to it caught fire and is covered with smoke (impairing visibility and draining stamina).

The bars under the soldier's name show his remaining pool of time units (green), as well as the current levels of his stamina (yellow), health (red) and morale (violet). One of the icons allows the player to enter the equipment screen, where the all other carried items are shown.
