Summary

Description
English: BMAL1 and CLOCK or NPAS2 for a heterodimer which activates the transription of period and cryptochrome genes. This causes the formation of the PER:CRY complex, which in turn inhibits the BMAL1:CLOCK or NPAS2 heterodimer. The BMAL1:CLOCK or NPAS2 heterodimer also drives the transcription of two nuclear orphan receptor genes, which when translated either inhibit or activate Bmal1 transcription.
