Summary

Description
English: St. Peter's Church, Drayton Bassett This church dates back to 1327 when Ralph Lord Bassett was licensed by the King - the recently crowned Edward III - to discharge a debt by building a church at Drayton. However, due to neglect the old church crumbled and was severely damaged by a storm in 1792. Most of the church required rebuilding, though part of the tower dates from this old church. Sir Robert Peel http://www.victorianweb.org/history/pms/peel/peel10.html the famous Conservative Prime Minister, and MP for nearby Tamworth is entombed here, and his family enlarged the church in memory of him. see http://www.dbpcc.force9.co.uk/
