Description
Español: Figura humana realizada en bronce, con una máscara de oro aplicada sobre la cara que resalta sus rasgos: labios gruesos, nariz ancha y ojos almendrados. Sobre la cabeza lleva un casquete rematado por cintas. Viste túnica larga, ajustada y con mangas. Lleva los brazos doblados sobre el pecho donde sujetaría un objeto que no se ha conservado. La pieza es solidaria con una gruesa espiga en la base donde apoya los pies destinada a embutirse en otro objeto. La composición de su bronce, con arsénico y zinc, hacen pensar que se trata de una pieza importada, posiblemente de Fenicia. El hecho de que lleve máscara de oro hace suponer que el personaje representado tiene carácter divino o relacionado con la divinidad. La figura se conoce como "Sacerdote de Cádiz" por haberse hallado en Cadiz, en las obras de un solar, y haberse considerado tradicionalmente que representaba a un sacerdote del templo de Melkart en actitud orante. materila. oro y bronce batido.
