Description
English: Sami drum, probably from Åsele Lappmark. Frame drum. Height 46; width 34 cm. No 35 in Ernst Manker's Die lappische Zaubertrommel (1938/1950).
Confiscated by the bishop of Härnosand Petrus Asp during his visitation in Åsele new years day, january 1725. A total of 26 drums were confiscated that day and given to the Antiquitätsarchiv in Stockholm. According to manker and Åsa Virdi Kroik (2007) originally owned by Mårten Olofson of Åsele. Now owned by SHM (SHM 360:7); kept at Nordiska Museet, Stockholm.

Author Ernst Manker. Scanning, cleaning up minor imperfections in the reproduction and removing the numbers was made by Tor Gjerde at old.no; Christopher Forster made the PNG images white background transparent using ImageMagick on GNU/Linux.
