Description
English: The Pan-bagnat (pahn bahn-YAH) is a sandwich that is a speciality of the region of Nice, France. The sandwich is composed of a circle formed white bread around the classic Salade Niçoise, a salad composed mainly of raw vegetables, hard boiled eggs, anchovies and/or tuna, and olive oil. The name of the sandwich comes from the local Provençal language dialect of Niçard, in which Pan-bagnat means "wet bread". It is often misspelled "pain bagnat" which, while correct in French, is not the spelling used in Niçard. The Pan-bagnat is a popular lunchtime dish in the region around Nice where it is sold in most bakeries and on most markets. The Pan-bagnat and the Salade Niçoise are strongly linked to the city of Nice, where they have been over time developed out of locally available ingredients.
Español: El Pan-bagnat (en francés: Pan bagnat) es un sandwich muy popular en la cocina francesa (en especial en Niza-Francia) y que está elaborado con los contenidos de la famosa Ensalada nicosia (Salade niçoise) que consta de anchoas/atún, verduras crudas, huevo cocido y aceite de oliva. El nombre del sandwich proviene del idioma provençal que es un dialecto de Niçard, en el que Pan-bagnat significa "pan mojado" (pain mouillé - en aceite de oliva) . El Pan-bagnat es un sandwich muy popular en la región de Niza donde se sirve en la mayoría de las panaderías y en la mayoría de los mercados al aire libre. El Pan-bagnat y la ensalada que le sirve de base: la Salade Niçoise están muy unidos a la tradición culinaria de la ciudad de Nice.
