Summary

This is an oil platform base being constructed on a river, before it is transported out to the gulf with tugboats and barges. Once it arrives, it is sunk using ballast control and tied to the sea floor with cables.

The quality is poor because I quickly snapped it as we passed overhead in a helicopter.

This type of structure is actually tied to the seafloor by driving pipes into the seafloor on each side. 2 pipes, known as caissons, are driven on each corner.

This picture is actually from Jay Ray McDermott's yard in Amelia,LA.
