English: The first double-deck emu in Australia - NSWR prototype double-deck driving motor car of prototype 'Tulloch' 8-car emu No.C3804 (built in 1968) in Tuscan Red livery at Trainworks, the New South Wales Railway Museum, Thirlmere 31 March 2016. 120 double-deck trailers were built by Tulloch in 1964-68 to operate with existing single-deck motor trailers of Tulloch, Sputnik or Standard Suburban design. These were followed by 4 prototype driving motor cars (with different electrical equipment) in 1968 by Tulloch to operate with existing double-deck trailers to form two complete 4-car double-deck sets which ran as one 8-car set No.S10 (disbanded in 1977). The other double deck trailers remained with single deck motor cars or from 1972 were reformed with new 'S' Class double-deck driving motor cars into new 'S' 4-car double deck sets. The former mixed sets were withdrawn in the early 1990's, the latter sets by 2004.
