Deutsch: Frauenschul. Ueberreste der aeltesten Synagogue Wiens. Die Synagoge war geistiger Mittelpunkt einer ueber Europa ausstrahlenden juedischen Gelehrsamkeit, die hier in Wien eine Bluete erreichte. Die Ueberreste ihrer Zerstoerung im Jahre 1421 dokumentieren das von Hass und Unverstaendniss gepraegte Ende der ersten juedischen Gemeinde Wiens. Dies ist ein Ort der Erinnerung an die Opfer der Wiener Gesera.
English: Women's Shul. Remains of Vienna's oldest synagogue. The synagogue was the spritiual centre of Jewish scholarship which extended over the continent of Europea and enjoyed one of its heydays here in Vienna. The destruction of the synagogue in 1421, motivated by hatred and misconceptions, marked the end of Vienna's first Jewish community. This site now serves as a memorial to the victims of the Vienna Gesera.
