Die frühe Schrift des 24jährigen entstand während seiner Tätigkeit in der Psychiatrischen Heil- und Pflegeanstalt Illenau in Achern / Baden. „Sinnesdelir“ wird Krafft-Ebing später durch den von ihm eingeführten Begriff „Dämmerzustand“ ersetzen.
