English: Fragelité cakes in a bakery in Aarhus, Denmark. Fragelité consists primarily of a baked almond pastry layer, topped with a mocca-flavoured butter-cream and wrapped in a meringue. Despite the French sounding name, Fragelité originated in Denmark apparently, when baker Johannes Steen made the first one in Copenhagen in 1910. Nowadays they come in various shapes. Fragelité was registered as a cake of Danish origin in 1994 in the EU project Euroterroir. 22 cakes out of a total of 130 food items, was registered as of Danish origin in the project.
