Summary
[edit]Original community entrance sign for Kingwood, Texas (courtesy of www.kingwoodconnection.com.) The original sign was larger than allowed by the City of Houston ordinances. When it was taken down for repairs, it was not allowed to be put back up and was replaced with a new smaller sign.
This was viewed as one more instance of the loss of the community identity after the City of Houston annexation. Many residents mourned the loss of the original sign. The year after the sign was replaced, one Kingwood family created a scaled down version as part of their Christmas light display in memorial.
