Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) People v. Turner
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) The section in the article that details how the mug shot of convicted rapist Brock Turner is now being used on page 20 of the second edition of the criminal justice textbook Introduction to Criminal Justice (ISBN 9781506347721), published in January 2017 by University of Colorado, Denver Professor Callie Marie Rennsion and Mary Dodge, as the accompanying photo in the entry that defines rape.

The entry point of the section of the article in question is how the accompany image in a criminal textbook's entry on rape is *** illustrated *** by the mugshot, a point that is visual in nature.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) All four of the prescribed criteria will be met.
  • This is the only file created from the book being used in the article.
  • The only article to which I intend to add this file is the People v. Turner article.
  • The file is the image of a portion of a single page from a 456-page book, and of that image, only the text is non-free. Of that text, only the caption is legible, as the column to the image's right is truncated, making the content unintellgible. This means that it is only a tiny portion of the protected work. The remainder of the image is a free mugshot, which by itself does not illustrate the point being made in the section of the article in question.
  • The image's resolution is only 302 × 329px, which I do not believe infringes on the ability of the text's copyright owner to profit from it.
