Summary

Description
English: A carbon steel Olfa blade with an included bevel angle of 28 degrees was dulled by cutting into an abrasive stone and subsequently part of the blade was honed with a smooth steel rod. Each of the two areas were cross-sectioned by Focused Ion Beam and imaged by SEM.

Comparison of the regions above the 28 degree bevel show that metal has been removed.

The honing rod removes metal via adhesive wear to form a microbevel and restore keenness.
