Summary

Description
English: Fox-3/NeuN is a nuclear and proximal cytoplasmic marker of the majority of mature neurons, and antibodies to this protein are therefore used to identify neurons. Here is shown antibody staining for Fox-3/NeuN in the adult rat cerebellum in green. The Fox-3/NeuN antibody binds to small cerebellar granule cells. In contrast a close relative of Fox-3/NeuN, Fox-2, shown in red, stains Purkinje and Golgi neurons which are not recognized by the Fox-3/NeuN antibody. DNA is shown in blue.
