English: Distintivo de Madrid pennant, established by the Spanish Republic in order to reward courage, by means of the 23 January 1938 Decree. It was related to the Placa Laureada de Madrid awarded to Admiral Luis González de Ubieta after the victorious battle of Cape Palos. This pennant was given to cruisers Libertad and Méndez Núñez, and destroyers Lepanto, Almirante Antequera and Sánchez Barcáiztegui. A special badge was also awarded to their crew members.
