Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen basiert auf einem Siegel aus dem späten 15. Jahrhundert. Es wurde 1817 durch den preußischen König verliehen. Die Kreuze stehen redend für den Stadtnamen. Der Schachbalken entstammt dem Wappen der Grafen von Sponheim. Die Mauerkrone steht für die im 13. Jahrhundert verliehenen Stadtrechte.
