1913 Production at Carsons Glasgow factory was moved to a newly built factory at Shortwood, near Mangotsfield, South Gloucestershire, near Bristol. The name, prominently displayed at high level on the building was a salient feature viewed by railway passengers through Mangotsfield Station. It was later occupied and extended by DRG paper manufacturers during the 1970s. During the late 1990s the building was pulled down and replaced with a modern housing development. In the sixties the railway sidings at Shortwood were used to store coaches as well as serving a brickworks, a colliery and the nearby Carsons Chocolate factory. 1961 The Shortwood factory was sold and Carsons moved to Packer's factory at Greenbank. 1964 Packers/Carsons/Bond was bought by Jimmy Goldsmith and Cavernham Confectionery was formed.
