Description

Diagram of British Capped Armour-Piercing shell Mk V, for BL 9.2 inch naval and coast defence guns.
Length approximately 3 calibres (27.6 inches; precise length varied by contractor), diameter 9.165 inches, weight filled & fuzed 380 lbs.
Shell made of forged or cast steel, hardened for attacking armour, with mild steel cap.
Filled with approximately 20 lbs L.G. powder (gunpowder) contained in a cloth burster bag together with several 7-dram primers around the fuze.


Used with No. 15 Large base percussion fuze.
