Summary

Description This is the Austroboletus austrovirens bolete fungus which was first identified in 2017 by mycologists. This species is native to North Queensland and the Northern Territories of Australia and has a cap of 5 or 6 to 11 centimetres long. Austroboletus austrovirens is distinguished by its features of dry, green pigments on its pileus and stipe reticulum in combination with apricot orange pigments on its stipe surface. This particular specimen was personally photographed at the Davies Creek National Park, west of Cairns, Australia by Ray Palmer of Australia.
